Newsletter/Website/Everything!
Hello everyone. No more Substack. This is where I'll be posting from now on. Everything in its right place. All my podcasts, all my songs, photo archives, writing/reviews, short films. Bear with me though, this new site is a work in progress in every way so expect glitches. I'll be submitting my first official post early next week and each month, you'll get a rundown of everything I've done too.
For now, allow me to re-introduce myself for the purposes of the first post on this new site! I’m Jim Laczkowski, creator of The Now Playing Network, host of Director’s Club, writer, photographer, musician and a librarian with the Chicago Public Library which now more than ever, we need your support so go renew your cards, check out up to 50 items, go to programs and tell the mayor to get his act together so the city budget doesn’t go to hell. Get ready for a lot of content in 2026!

Recent shoutouts: Congrats to friend and film critic Collin Souter on his recent accomplishment being featured with his essay and interview in the Blu-Ray release of Joe Dante’s The Movie Orgy and also, be careful if you type in The Movie Orgy into Google which I discovered at work.

Congrats to the immensely talented Marya Gates for releasing one of the year’s best books with Cinema Her Way: Visionary Female Directors in Their Own Words, available wherever books are sold. Love everything about this remarkable work from one of our best film critics out there!

Speaking of books, the man responsible for me being a film nerd is Nick Digilio, who also released an incredibly special memoir that I’ll forever cherish with 40 Years, 40 Films, it’s not only an incredible achievement, but it's also been 40 years of passion, dedication and support to the world of film criticism, so give it up for Nick. He's done so much for me over the years, and I couldn't be more grateful. Stay tuned for so much much more on this site, via this newsletter and thank you for your support. Excited to be away from Substack; hosting here over via Ghost! Stay tuned and talk to you next week!
