#23: "Untitled #3 (Rhubarb)" - Aphex Twin
A song without words can be even more powerful and of course, hard to put into words as to why it resonates so strongly with me but let's give it a try!
#22: Wonder Boys (2000) (dir. Curtis Hanson)
It's been nearly a month since I've written and shame on me! But I have a very good excuse: my career is where it's needed to be for quite some time. In other words, things have changed.
Bonus Material: The 10th Annual Chicago Critics Film Festival (Part 1 of 2) - 2023
In lieu of reviews for 5 Years, I've been doing write-ups of everything I've seen at CCFF 2023. Providing that here until time frees up for regular content.
Review / Interview: Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret (2023) (dir. Kelly Fremon Craig)
So happy that I saw this at a public preview screening in which the audience was laughing, cheering and having a great time. This deserves to be seen by all families and especially teenagers!
#21: She Dies Tomorrow (2020) (dir. Amy Seimetz)
Who knew Amy Seimetz would have released a film at the most perfect time in 2020 when we were all living in a perpetual state of anxiety and isolation? It's become my favorite film about anxiety.
Guest Contributor #2: Sharon Gissy
One of my favorite people on this planet contributes to this here SS project with her answers regarding questions about film, food and music!
#20: Sunset (2018) (dir. Lászlò Nemes)
Disorienting, long takes often shot in an immersive, persistent closeup. It's an unrelenting movie that is confusing and challenging in ways that I wish more filmmakers would aim for.
