A lot as usual - here's a summation of things to look forward to, things I've recently accomplished and surprise, surprise, lists!
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) (dir. Stanley Kubrick)
It's been hard to write about fiction lately. I wonder why? Well, there's another movie besides Idiocracy that seems to indicate where we're headed. No surprise, it's another Kubrick masterpiece.
Johnny Guitar (1954) (dir. Nicholas Ray)
I know I just wrote about Nicholas Ray's last film too, but I've watched this twice in one week in preparation for a new podcast about Westerns and I couldn't help but make this the next entry.
We Can't Go Home Again (1973) (dir. Nicholas Ray)
Final film from one of my favorite directors is as unhinged as it gets. It is not a film, in the ordinary sense of the word. More like lives flashing before your eyes, including the director's own.
Mulholland Drive (2001) (dir. David Lynch)
This is the film. It is my favorite of all time. Thank you David Lynch for making it.

Time to get back to writing about film and music regularly here in 2025. There are reasons why this song hits home now more than ever especially after election day.
